江楼月创作背景
这是白居易给元稹的一首赠答诗。809年（元和四年）春，元稹以监察御史使东川，不得不离开京都，离别正在京任翰林的挚友白居易。他独自在嘉陵江岸驿楼中，见月圆明亮，波光荡漾，遂浮想联翩，作七律《江楼月》寄白居易，表达深切的思念之情。
江楼月鉴赏
诗的前半是“追忆旧事”，写离别后彼此深切思念的情景。明月之夜，清辉照人，最能逗引离人幽思：月儿这样圆满，人却相反，一个在嘉陵江岸，一个在曲江池畔；虽是一般明月，却不能聚在一起共同观赏，见月伤别，顷刻间往日欢聚步月的情景浮现在诗人眼前，涌上诗人心头。以“一宵”言“相忆”时间之长；以“潜”表深思的神态。由于夜不能寐，思绪万千，便从人的悲欢离合又想到月的阴晴圆缺，嘉陵江岸与曲江池畔相距很远，诗人不知道两地是否都是这样的“明月”之夜，这样的诗句将离情别绪说得十分动人。“两地阴晴远不知”在诗的意境创造上别出心裁。第一联里，离人虽在两地还可以共赏一轮团？“明月”，而在第二联里，诗人却担心着连这点联系也难于存在，从而表现出更朴实真挚的情谊。
诗的后半则是写诗人处于“新境”，叙述他对“旧事”的看法。“谁料江边怀我夜，正当池畔望君时”，“正当”表现出白居易和元稹推心置腹的情谊。以“谁料”冠全联，言懊恼之意，进一层表现出体贴入微的感情：若知如此，就该早寄诗抒怀，免得尝望月幽思之苦。以“今朝”、“方”表示悔寄诗之迟，暗写思念时间之长，“共语”和“同悔”又表示出双方思念的情思是一样的深沉。
这首诗，虽是白居易写给元稹的，却通篇都道双方的思念之情，别具一格。诗在意境创造上有它独特成功之处，主要是情与景的高度融合，看起来全诗句句抒情，实际上景已寓于情中，每一句诗都会在读者脑海中浮现出动人的景色，而且产生联想。当读者读了前四句，会联想到江楼、圆月的景象和诗人凝视吟赏的情景，这较之实写景色更丰富、更动人。

白居易（772年－846年），字乐天，号香山居士，又号醉吟先生，祖籍太原，到其曾祖父时迁居下邽，生于河南新郑。是唐代伟大的现实主义诗人，唐代三大诗人之一。白居易与元稹共同倡导新乐府运动，世称“元白”，与刘禹锡并称“刘白”。白居易的诗歌题材广泛，形式多样，语言平易通俗，有“诗魔”和“诗王”之称。官至翰林学士、左赞善大夫。公元846年，白居易在洛阳逝世，葬于香山。有《白氏长庆集》传世，代表诗作有《长恨歌》、《卖炭翁》、《琵琶行》等。
