五月五日天晴明，杨花绕江啼晓莺。
使君未出郡斋外，江上早闻齐和声。
使君出时皆有准，马前已被红旗引。
两岸罗衣破晕香，银钗照日如霜刃。
鼓声三下红旗开，两龙跃出浮水来。
棹影斡波飞万剑，鼓声劈浪鸣千雷。
鼓声渐急标将近，两龙望标目如瞬。
坡上人呼霹雳惊，竿头彩挂虹蜺晕。
前船抢水已得标，后船失势空挥桡。
疮眉血首争不定，输岸一朋心似烧。
只将输赢分罚赏，两岸十舟五来往。
须臾戏罢各东西，竞脱文身请书上。
吾今细观竞渡儿，何殊当路权相持。
不思得岸各休去，会到摧车折楫时。
竞渡歌鉴赏
前四句“使君未出郡斋外，江上早闻齐和声”交代节令、天气、环境，渲染赛前热闹的气氛。
第五、六句写州郡长官前去观看竞渡。第七、八句用“罗衣”、“银钗”借代观看竞渡的女士，从味觉、视觉两方面形容观看比赛的人多。
第九至第十八句描绘第一次竞渡的情景，所用比喻特别多，例如以：飞万剑：形容棹影上下翻飞的快捷，以“鼓声劈浪鸣千雷”比喻鼓声既响又急，以“目如瞬”形容龙目的生动，以“霹雳惊”形容坡上观众喊声突发、惊天动地，以“虹霓晕”形容锦标五彩缤纷，令人五花缭乱。
第十九、二十句“疮眉血首争不定，输岸一朋心似烧”从参赛者和观赛者两个角度写竞渡双方的情绪，“两岸十舟五来往”写双方十艘船又比赛了五次，使竞渡又掀起了一个高潮。
第二十三句“须臾戏罢各东西”中的“各东西”意思是塞外以后各自分开，第二十四句“竞脱文身请书上”的意思是刚赛完，输方不服，双方又脱了上衣，露出刺花的身体，请求再决雌雄。

[唐]（公元七三五年至八oo年）字本立，邓州南阳人，寓居兖州。生于唐玄宗开元二十三年，卒于德宗贞元十六年，年六十六岁。少喜文章，能辩论，慷慨尚气，以功名自许。代宗诏李光弼进讨苏常盗，建封请前谕盗，一日降数千人。德宗时，李希烈反，建封拒战有功，拜徐、泗、濠节度使。贞元中来朝。时宦者主宫市，谏章列上皆不纳；建封得间言之，帝颇顺听。及还镇，帝赋诗以饯，又以鞭赐之。后以病求代，代者未至而卒。建封著有文二百三十篇，《新唐书艺文志》传于世。
