译文
大雪纷飞，路途泥泞，百里阴云浓重。我应召前往梓州幕府，告别亲人，一路西行。
希望在途中做一个还乡梦，却被鸡鸣无端惊醒。定是陈仓的碧野鸡，打破了雪夜黎明的宁静。
注释
雪泥：积雪融化，道路泥泞。
陈仓：县名，唐肃宗至德二年（757）改名宝鸡。
碧野鸡：糅合陈仓故城宝鸡神祠及益州之碧鸡之神。

唐文宗开成二年（837）冬初，李商隐赴兴元（今陕西汉中）入令狐楚幕，离别之时，诗人在途中写下这首诗寄赠友人。

这两句先写冬日的阴冷景象并点明诗人的去向。“阴云”可连绵延续“百里”，亦见冬日昏暗无光之极。“覆”字又状尽阴云低垂之态。“雪泥”写初冬的雪易于溶化，落地之后和泥土融成“雪泥”，使路程更为难行。这句诗表面摹写路途雪泥交加的冬景，实则以此灰暗的色调揭示自己离别友人时依恋不舍的压抑心情。由于诗人此番赴兴元入令狐楚幕下，本是一件值得高兴的事。因为令狐楚是文宗时的朝廷元老，又是一位有名的骈文家。李商隐第一次谒见他时年仅十六岁。十年来不断得到他的奖掖和资助，以致使李商隐得以迅速成长并考上进士。所以诗中不宜过多渲染消极气氛，故而次句“行人只在雪云西”就显得比较飘洒、轻捷。上句已言“阴云”有百里之阔，现又言诗人只在“雪云西”，故今日虽一时分别，却无须多时即能重新见面。因为兴元只在长安附近，往返极易。这句诗一改前句沉滞的气氛，使诗作的情感顿时转为温馨起来，仿佛是诗人在劝慰友人：你我之间只有一云之隔，无须过度悲伤，来日自有重聚之时。
在这两句诗中，诗人又抒发了自己对亲朋友人的殷殷深情。一方面李商隐对于令狐楚邀其入幕，并且可能导致从此仕途通达，是极感兴趣的；但另一方面，他对亲人特别是母亲，还有弟妹及其他亲朋也是十分眷恋的，因此才拖延了入幕的时间。以上李商隐在对待亲情和仕宦问题上的矛盾心理，便是这首诗后两句的创作思想基础。他既为自己能大展宏图而兴奋不已，同时亦情不自禁地沉缅于天伦之乐和友情相聚之中，故人还未到兴元，就在诗中流露出浓厚的乡情了。
这首诗在艺术上可以说很有李商隐初期诗作秾丽挺拔的特色。在叙述离情别意之时，这首诗同其他不少离别诗有较多的相异之处，主要表现在叙述离情别意时能够做到豁达而不过于伤感缠绵，同时还杂揉进富有神话色彩的传说故事，显得颇为飘逸别致。

李商隐，字义山，号玉溪（谿）生、樊南生，唐代著名诗人，祖籍河内（今河南省焦作市）沁阳，出生于郑州荥阳。他擅长诗歌写作，骈文文学价值也很高，是晚唐最出色的诗人之一，和杜牧合称“小李杜”，与温庭筠合称为“温李”，因诗文与同时期的段成式、温庭筠风格相近，且三人都在家族里排行第十六，故并称为“三十六体”。其诗构思新奇，风格秾丽，尤其是一些爱情诗和无题诗写得缠绵悱恻，优美动人，广为传诵。但部分诗歌过于隐晦迷离，难于索解，至有“诗家总爱西昆好，独恨无人作郑笺”之说。因处于牛李党争的夹缝之中，一生很不得志。死后葬于家乡沁阳（今河南焦作市沁阳与博爱县交界之处）。作品收录为《李义山诗集》。
