芳草年年惹恨幽。想前事悠悠。伤春伤别几时休。算从古、为风流。
春山总把，深匀翠黛，千叠在眉头。不知供得几多愁。更斜日、凭危楼。
燕归梁·春愁鉴赏
此词题为春愁，写得蕴藉深情，值得玩味。起首两句，写看见春草萌生，引起对前事的追忆。“年年”、“悠悠”两叠词用得好，有形象、有感情。“年年”，层次颇多：过去一对恋人厮守一起，别后年年盼归，又年年不见归，今后还将年年盼望下去，失望下去。如此往复，情何以堪。“悠悠”，形容“前事”遥远，怀“想”深长，表现出女主人公执着纯真的情感。春天的芳草年年萌发，而对往事怀想之情年年不断，与日俱增，不知何时是尽头。“伤春伤别几时休”一句，把女主人公的感情直接倾诉出来。“算从古、为风流。”是说这种离别愁绪的产生，都是为了男女的风流韵事。至此，“春愁”之意始明。
过片三句：“春山总把，深匀翠黛，千叠眉头。”特写女子双眉。“春山”是眉之色，这里写春山把自己青翠的颜色深匀叠压女子眉头，造语别饶韵致。“不知供得几多愁”一句，承上文，既关合山，又关合眉。王安石《午枕》诗：“隔水山供宛转愁”；辛稼轩《水龙吟》词：“遥岑远目，献愁供恨，玉簪螺髻。”可以参照。这里是说山触发了自己的无限愁思，而又堆集眉头上。“更斜日、凭危楼”，与夕阳西下、江楼倚望的情景，有“多少愁”自不言之中。一日之愁就已“不知供得几多愁”，那“芳草年年惹恨”只恐是无时无休了。
结句为景语，采用了乐府《西洲曲》“鸿飞满西洲，望郎上青楼。楼高望不见，尽日栏干头”的意境。把一腔春愁浓缩为一幅斜阳危楼人独倚的剪影，一切尽不言之中。

石延年（994～1041）北宋官员、文学家、书法家。字曼卿，一字安仁。原籍幽州（今北京市一带）人，后晋把幽州割让给契丹，其祖举族南迁，定居于宋城（今河南省商丘南）。屡试不中，真宗年间以右班殿直，改太常寺太祝，累迁大理寺丞，官至秘阁校理、太子中允。北宋文学家石介以石延年之诗，欧阳修之文，杜默之歌称为“三豪”。
