译文
铸造成寒光照人的三尺莫邪长剑，夜里拿出宝剑挑亮油灯细细品赏。
（这么好的宝剑）如今只能权且空挂书斋与琴为伴，（边敌猖獗）我却无法带着它前往边关赴边杀敌。
注释
①傅岩叟：傅为栋，字岩叟，江西铅山人，曾为鄂州州学讲师，与稼轩来往甚密，彼此唱和颇多。
②镆邪：一作莫邪，古代宝剑名。相传春秋时吴人干将与妻莫邪善铸剑。尝铸二剑，分别以干将、莫邪名之，献给吴王(见《吴越春秋·阎闾内传》四)，后以此作名剑代称。
③“试与挑灯仔细看”句：稼轩《破阵子·为陈同甫赋壮词以寄》：“醉里挑灯看剑，梦回吹角连营。”
④楼兰：汉时西域的鄯善国，在今新疆维吾尔族自治区鄯善县东南一带。西汉时，傅介子奉命前往，计杀楼兰王，立功异域。事见《汉书·傅介子传》。后泛指侵扰西北地区之敌。王昌龄《从军行》：“黄沙百战穿金甲，不破楼兰终不还。”此当借指北方的金国。
送剑与傅岩叟创作背景
辛弃疾早年参加沦陷区耿京领导的义军抗金。在他奉表南下联系南宋朝廷联合抗金北返时，闻知张安国杀耿京降金，便星夜疾驰擒获叛徒，送到临安正法。但南归后他未被重用。于是辛弃疾赠剑给友人时并写下这首诗，寄托了诸多的感慨。

送剑与傅岩叟鉴赏
镆耶三尺照人寒，试与挑灯仔细看——“镆耶三尺”，指剑；“镆耶”亦作莫耶、莫邪，古宝剑名。雄剑名干将，雌剑名奠邪。干将进雄剑于吴王而藏雌剑，雌剑思念雄剑，常在匣中悲鸣。“照人寒”，言宝剑光亮耀目，观之令人胆寒。“挑灯”，拨亮灯烛。作者拨亮灯烛看剑，浮想联翩，他到底在想些什么呢。
且挂空斋作琴伴，未得携去斩楼兰——宝剑本是杀敌之器，但今却空无所用，不能用在杀敌的战场，只能高高挂在空空如也的书斋中，与琴棋书画为伴。剑无所用，实指作者才无所施、能无所发，未能够在战场上杀敌击贼。这是一个多么可悲的场面。
本诗虽仅四句，但抒发的感情却是激烈慷慨，充满一股悲愤之气。想辛弃疾自南归以来，念念不忘的是收复失地，以成一个完整的南北统一的太平世界。但腐朽的南宋王朝却在与金人的长期对垒中日渐丧失了自己的优势，诗人也在这无限期的闲置中虚度了自己的青春岁月，所有这一切，铸成诗人这一首表达自己痛心疾首、极度遗憾之情的诗篇。

辛弃疾（1140－1207），南宋词人。原字坦夫，改字幼安，别号稼轩，汉族，历城（今山东济南）人。出生时，中原已为金兵所占。21岁参加抗金义军，不久归南宋。历任湖北、江西、湖南、福建、浙东安抚使等职。一生力主抗金。曾上《美芹十论》与《九议》，条陈战守之策。其词抒写力图恢复国家统一的爱国热情，倾诉壮志难酬的悲愤，对当时执政者的屈辱求和颇多谴责；也有不少吟咏祖国河山的作品。题材广阔又善化用前人典故入词，风格沉雄豪迈又不乏细腻柔媚之处。由于辛弃疾的抗金主张与当政的主和派政见不合，后被弹劾落职，退隐江西带湖。
