译文
我们曾在沙河塘上游玩，那时候的你还是少年。月中吹起长笛声声，曲调轻快如和云和雁一起飞翔。
惊叹那物换星移，岁月流逝。我们对视着，两鬓都已斑白。吴苑的迷离芳草是那样令人心碎，倚着小楼，还有未归的人。
注释
醉桃源：词牌名。双调，四十七字，上片四句四平韵，下片五句四平韵。
卢长笛：系一下层社会的乐工，据词中透露，是词人的一位老相识，极有可能还是词人的一位老乡。
沙河塘：杭州的一条街道。在余杭门内，南宋时为繁华之处。
物换星移：景物改换，星度推移。谓时序变迁，岁月流逝。
吴苑（yuàn）：指苏州。苏州为春秋吴地，有宫阙苑囿之胜。后因以吴苑为苏州的代称。

醉桃源·赠卢长笛创作背景
这首词大约作于吴文英四十五岁前后，时客居吴门。他与少时同伴卢长笛邂逅相遇，百感丛生，乡情骤涨，于是写了这首词来表达对友人的思念之情和思乡之情。

醉桃源·赠卢长笛鉴赏
词的上阕忆写旧游沙河塘上的情景。与卢长笛一起追忆年少时在家乡无忧无愁的天真生活，往事有多么美好，同时对卢氏的长笛吹奏艺术的高妙也记忆犹新，当时卢郎还年少，一声长笛在月下吹奏，曲调轻快若“和云和雁飞”。词人从简单的生活中截取了一个既真又幻的横断面，把年少不知愁滋味的美好时光刻写得极其微妙，直接触及到心灵深处，乍看起来似意随言尽，反复咀嚼则别有感慨。
下阕一转，写时光流逝，转眼已老，由年少怀想转入现实记述。斗转星移、物是人非，直接点明时间的变化之快。少年已然变成了白发老叟。“相看两鬓丝”，寥寥五字，真是意蕴言中，韵流弦外。而如今吴苑草长凄凄，两人相见也伤心断肠。倚楼远眺的人盼望我们回去，可是我们还未归。词人在感叹时光流逝的无奈，又有思乡不能归的感伤。韵味浓醇，思致渺远。思乡情浓，是历经坎坷之后重新想回到童年和少年时期的环境和氛围中去，是一种慰抚心灵创痛的愿望和追求，也是为了解脱现实生活的苦涩情状。当然，如能回乡归去，则无疑又可和卢长笛同游了，又可去“沙河塘上旧游嬉”的地方重拾旧梦，再创新的乐趣了。
这首词写作者与一位姓卢、善吹长笛的艺人久别后的重逢。上片回忆当年在杭州余杭门外沙河塘上的勾栏瓦舍听卢郎演奏笛子的情景。下片感叹岁月易逝，物换星移，如今异地重逢，彼此都已年迈苍苍，鬓发斑白，尚未能回到故乡，不禁泪眼相望，恍若隔世，令人伤心悲凉。词语平实，不事雕饰，表达了作者和一位民间艺人的真挚感情与深厚友谊。

吴文英（约1200～1260），字君特，号梦窗，晚年又号觉翁，四明（今浙江宁波）人。原出翁姓，后出嗣吴氏。与贾似道友善。有《梦窗词集》一部，存词三百四十余首，分四卷本与一卷本。其词作数量丰沃，风格雅致，多酬答、伤时与忆悼之作，号“词中李商隐”。而后世品评却甚有争论。
