译文
大禹治水的功绩留传万古，当年他奔波劳碌多么辛苦！他使鱼儿乖乖地游进深渊，人们安安稳稳地定居在平土。
一轮红日又向西天沉沉下坠，江中的白浪却永远向东流去。我并非眺望金山，而是在缅怀大禹。
注释
京口郡治尘表亭：宋代镇江府的官署设在京口，故称京口郡治。尘表亭：镇江亭名，今不存。
矻矻（kū）：勤劳不懈的样子。《史记·夏禹本纪》：“禹伤先人父鲧功之不成受诛，乃劳神焦思，居外十三年，过家门不敢入。”
“鱼自”句：《老子》：“鱼不可脱于渊。”
“人自”句：《孟子·滕文公》：“《书》曰：‘洚水警余。’洚水者，洪水也。使禹治之，禹掘地而注之海，驱龙蛇而放之菹，水由地中行，江、淮、河、汉是也。险阻既远，鸟兽之害人者消，然后人得平土而居之。”
金山：《舆地纪胜》镇江府景物：“金山，在江中，去城七里。旧名浮玉，唐李绮镇润州，表名金山。因裴头陀开山得金，故名。”

生查子·题京口郡治尘表亭创作背景
嘉泰四年（1204），辛弃疾奉密旨，出任镇江知府，扼守战略要冲，并为北伐做准备。这首词是词人到任之初，为北固山山腰郡守官署内的尘表亭而题写的作品。

按理说，登临如此高耸的山亭，自应细写其杳渺之景象，雄阔之意境。然而辛弃疾竟以豪情壮志、险思奇想出之，大发思禹之情，却又能不肯离题意。如上片“悠悠万世功”二句，通过“悠悠”“矻矻”两个叠词，既生动地写出其历史久远，又形象地道出大禹的劳苦功高。这纵横高远的境界，正是最恰当地扣住了“尘表”二字。作者面对一派江山如画、烟火万家的绚丽景象，他考虑的却是“鱼自入深渊，人自居平土”。尘世万物均能各得其所，推本溯源，这都是禹的伟大业绩。这三、四两句，又将“高”和“远”更推进了一步，可以说是超然玉立于尘表之外了。
如果说上片是吊古，那么下片则是伤今。过片“红日又西沉”二句，仿佛写的是眼前景，倘若简单地这样去理解，显然与上片高、远的意境不相符合。因而，“红日”句是比喻南宋朝廷岌岌可危的局势；“白浪”句是指流光飞逝，历史是无情的。这正是一代爱国者的时代忧虑，是作者愤懑难平的情感流露。煞尾二句，既照应了前阕，又阐明了词意：危亭登眺，无意于赏心悦目，主旨在忧时伤世。我自思量禹”句，寓含着作者无限心事：在这苟且偷安、不思自振的人欲横流中，必须要再有个为民造福的神禹出来治水平土，力挽狂澜，重整山河。全词紧紧系住“尘表”铺写，居高临远，吊古伤今，上下片浑然一体，意境奇特，造语清俊，在小令中洵为不可多得的妙品。

辛弃疾（1140－1207），南宋词人。原字坦夫，改字幼安，别号稼轩，汉族，历城（今山东济南）人。出生时，中原已为金兵所占。21岁参加抗金义军，不久归南宋。历任湖北、江西、湖南、福建、浙东安抚使等职。一生力主抗金。曾上《美芹十论》与《九议》，条陈战守之策。其词抒写力图恢复国家统一的爱国热情，倾诉壮志难酬的悲愤，对当时执政者的屈辱求和颇多谴责；也有不少吟咏祖国河山的作品。题材广阔又善化用前人典故入词，风格沉雄豪迈又不乏细腻柔媚之处。由于辛弃疾的抗金主张与当政的主和派政见不合，后被弹劾落职，退隐江西带湖。
