汉代白马驮经的事早已过去，只剩下断碑和残破的古庙留下遗迹。
这茅草房上吹起了萧瑟的秋风，一夜的浙沥秋雨给人带来了多少别思离情。
注释
白马寺：位于今洛阳城东十二公里处。建于东汉永平十一年（68年），是我国最早的一座官办佛寺。
白马驮经：传说汉明帝遗使去天竺（今印度）求佛法，有天竺僧摄摩腾和竺法兰至洛阳，同时有白马驮经而来，故所建佛寺名白马寺，白马驮经即指此事。典出南北朝《汉法本内传》与北魏杨炫之《洛阳伽蓝记》卷四：“白马寺，汉明帝所立也，佛入中国之始。寺在西阳门外三里御道南。帝梦金神，长丈六，项背日月光明。金神号曰佛。遣使向西域求之，乃得经像焉。时白马负经而来，因以为名。”
刹（chà）：佛寺。
萧萧：风声。
羁思：即羁旅之思。在外做客思念故乡的心情。

宿白马寺创作背景
天宝十四年（公元755年）发生“安史之乱”，当年十二月，叛军攻陷洛阳。安禄山在派兵西进的同时，于公元756年在洛阳称大燕皇帝，东都洛阳遭到严重破坏，白马寺也未能幸免。经过这次浩劫，当诗人张继在一个秋雨之夜投宿其寺，在感慨万千中，便写下了这首《宿白马寺》诗。

宿白马寺鉴赏
诗先写入白马寺时所见所感。作者从眼前的断碑残刹想起白马驮经的往昔盛事，一“空”一“见”的鲜明对比，极为准确地传达出他当时的感伤情绪，从中透露出浓郁的时代气息。接着，抒写宿白马寺的感受。破旧的茅屋，萧萧的秋风，沙沙的雨声。触发起作者思乡念亲的愁情；在这环境的演染与衬托下，“浓”字就显得极为自然而突出。至此，伤时之恨，身世之感、羁旅之愁在诗中达到水乳交融的地步，因而使此诗成为继《枫桥夜泊》后的又一写愁名篇。对比《宿白马寺》和《枫桥夜泊》两首诗，可以发现两者有共同之处：两者写的都是秋天，前者为“秋风起”，后者为“霜满天”；两者均写到夜晚，前者为“一夜雨声”，后者为“江枫渔火”；两者都写到愁苦，前者为“羁思浓”，后者为“对愁眠”。

张继（约715~约779）字懿孙，汉族，襄州人（今湖北襄阳人）。唐代诗人，他的生平不甚可知。据诸家记录，仅知他是天宝十二年（公元七五三年）的进士。大历中，以检校祠部员外郎为洪州（今江西南昌市）盐铁判官。他的诗爽朗激越，不事雕琢，比兴幽深，事理双切，对后世颇有影响。但可惜流传下来的不到50首。他的最著名的诗是《枫桥夜泊》。
