译文
她穿着一身洁白如雪的衣服，就好像一枝美丽的梅花般好看。这位曳着雪白衣裙的女子，正含情脉脉，带着羞涩的微笑，姗姗来到我的梦中。
如果这位白衣女子来到越溪边，置身于一群身穿红色衣裙的越国美女中，那情景就好像一片红色的莲花中绽放了一朵亭亭玉立的白莲。
注释
赠道者：一作“赠送”。道者：道士。
麻衣如雪：语出《诗经·曹风·蜉蝣》，此处借用来描绘女子一身如雪的白衣。
越溪：春秋末年越国美女西施浣纱的地方。末两句是诗人的想象。
赠道者鉴赏
此诗从题目“赠道者”可以看出，诗赠送的对象是个道士，从诗的内容看，这是个女道士。此诗题目一作“赠送”。如果是后一个题目，那么，他写赠的对象就不一定是个女道士。但无论用哪一个题目，都不难看出，诗人所要着意描绘的是一个漂亮的白衣女子，并且对她的美色是颇为倾倒的。
首句中的“麻衣如雪”，出于《国风·曹风·蜉蝣》，这里借用来描画女子所穿的一身雪白的衣裳。在形容了女子的衣着以后，诗人又以高雅素洁的白梅来比拟女子的体态、风韵。次句中的“微妆”，是“凝妆”、“浓妆”的反义词，与常用的“素妆”、“淡妆”意义相近。“笑掩”写女子那带有羞涩的微笑。这女子是如此动人，她曳着雪白的衣裙，含情脉脉地微笑着，正姗姗来到诗人的梦境。
从甜蜜的梦境中醒来，诗人不禁浮想联翩，以致在他眼前呈现出了一个富有诗意的美丽境界：他仿佛看到这一女子来到越国的一条溪水边，走进一群穿着红色衣裳的浣纱女子中间；那风姿，那神韵，是这般炫人眼目，就像是开放在一片红色荷花中的一朵亭亭玉立的白莲。这两句，以“若”字领起，说明这是诗人的假想之词。首两句说的是女子的神，此两句则是说女子的形，然而在写法上却不似前两句作直接的描绘，而以烘托之法让人去想象和思索。当女子置身于漂亮的越女中间时，她便像是红莲池中开放的一朵玉洁冰清的白莲；她的婀娜娇美，自然不言而喻了。
在表现手法上，此诗主要采用了拟物的手法。一处用“一枝梅”，一处用“白莲”，后者尤其给人以深刻的印象。当然，以莲花比美人，并不是武元衡的独创。稍晚于武元衡的白居易也曾以莲花比女子，如“姑山半峰看，瑶水一枝莲（《玉真张观主下小女冠阿容》）。但比较地说，白居易只是运用了拟物一种手法，以形象显出单纯的美；武元衡在拟物时，兼用了烘托的手法，让诗中女子在一群越女的映衬下亮相，然后再过渡到莲花的比拟上，更有一种优美的意境和特殊的艺术效果。不过，全诗的情调只是在吐露对白衣少女美貌的神往之情，诗旨便不可取了。

武元衡（758―815），唐代诗人、政治家，字伯苍。缑氏（今河南偃师东南）人。武则天曾侄孙。建中四年，登进士第，累辟使府，至监察御史，后改华原县令。德宗知其才，召授比部员外郎。岁内，三迁至右司郎中，寻擢御史中丞。顺宗立，罢为右庶子。宪宗即位，复前官，进户部侍郎。元和二年，拜门下侍郎平章事，寻出为剑南节度使。元和八年，征还秉政，早朝被平卢节度使李师道遣刺客刺死。赠司徒，谥忠愍。《临淮集》十卷，今编诗二卷。
