译文
近郊这一带西溪的风光最美，可是有谁能和我一起共同把酒消忧。
苦吟诗句比柳恽还要入迷，伤心流泪成天像杨朱那样担忧犯愁。
只能和野鹤为友追随这位飞禽中的君子，以寒松为师向这位山中大夫稽首。
飘泊在海角天涯常常意绪恶劣，但这孤寂寥落的生活却胜过那喧闹烦嚣。
注释
西溪：位于梓州（今三台县城）西。
郭：外城。
酒壶：这里指饮酒。
苦吟：反复吟咏，苦心推敲。言做诗极为认真。防：这里念fāng，相比，抵当。柳恽（yùn）：《梁书·柳恽传》：“柳恽字文畅，河东解人，少工偏什，为诗曰：‘亭皋木叶下，陇首秋云飞。’琅琊王融书之斋壁。入梁，为秘书监，终吴兴太守。”
常病意：常常意绪恶劣。
岑（cén）寂：冷清，寂寞。

西溪创作背景
一般注家均认为这首诗是作者居梓州幕府时所作，清代学者冯浩编于大中九年（855）。李商隐此时期诗中多次写到西溪，是因他常到这里来散心。此诗也是到西溪散心触景伤怀而作。

西溪鉴赏
这首诗是诗人晚年伤怀之作。首联点题，并慨叹只能独游，无人相伴，即和结句“岑寂”相应。是此诗表现的主旨，可谓此诗诗眼
以下三联均是表现诗人生活的孤独岑寂。颔联写每日里只能像柳恽那样苦吟诗歌，又像杨朱那样伤心流泪因傍徨无路而担心犯愁，写出生活的凄苦。解释这两句，历代注家所论，似均欠当。冯浩曰：“柳仲郢父子皆工诗文，而杨本胜贤而文，恳索其所作四六。此其藉欤？”如此释诗，可说是所有李商隐诗的注释者所犯的通病，殊不足取。由于李商隐之诗，每多朦胧隐晦，注家们遂不免疑神疑鬼了见有“柳”字，就疑是柳仲郢，见有“杨”字，就疑是指杨本胜。理解这两句，首先必须详细体会第二句，“谁堪共酒壶”中的“谁堪”二字，这两句即紧承第二句，落实“谁堪”二字。因此，这两句内在含义即是：有人比得上柳恽的文采，但我却怕他苦吟；有人比得上杨朱的见识，但我却又怕他过于多泪。
颈联写只能与野鹤寒松为友，也是突出生活的孤独，从中也看出诗人对周围世俗的烦厌，诗人认为这西溪郊外的野鹤寒松远甚过那些世俗，才是自己的知己，见出诗人的孤高品性。尾联是诗人自我排解，远在天涯，人越来越“常病意”，在这样的时候，感到岑寂孤独远甚过烦嚣欢娱。关于尾联，历代往释家大抵偏于“病”字。如何焯曰：“第三句，因病废诗。”屈复曰：“天涯病客，以岑寂为佳耳。”对于本诗第七句，有必要分析这五个字的节奏：
其一、如果将商隐看成有病，应读为“天涯多病——意”。且不要说唐人诗中极少上四下一格的句式，即使有，也不宜用在此句。因为如果变为上四下一格，则“意”字放在此句，简直毫无作用。
其二、如果将这一句看成有病或多病，则与第二句“谁堪共酒壶”，委实大相矛盾。唐人诗中，凡说及有病，多提戒酒，绝不可能提到无人陪伴饮酒。
其三、如果将这一句看成是多病，则多病正宜于“岑寂”，亦不可能有“欢娱”之事，是则第八句简直是画蛇添足，毫无意义。
其四、如果将这一句看成是多病，则第一句“近郭西溪好”，也就毫无着落了。一个多病之人，还能出游郊外，还能欣赏西溪的景色，也是很难置信的。
基于上述理由，此句中的“病”字不应释为名词，而应释为形容词，将“病意”二字连读，如此，则全诗脉络皆可贯通了。

李商隐，字义山，号玉溪（谿）生、樊南生，唐代著名诗人，祖籍河内（今河南省焦作市）沁阳，出生于郑州荥阳。他擅长诗歌写作，骈文文学价值也很高，是晚唐最出色的诗人之一，和杜牧合称“小李杜”，与温庭筠合称为“温李”，因诗文与同时期的段成式、温庭筠风格相近，且三人都在家族里排行第十六，故并称为“三十六体”。其诗构思新奇，风格秾丽，尤其是一些爱情诗和无题诗写得缠绵悱恻，优美动人，广为传诵。但部分诗歌过于隐晦迷离，难于索解，至有“诗家总爱西昆好，独恨无人作郑笺”之说。因处于牛李党争的夹缝之中，一生很不得志。死后葬于家乡沁阳（今河南焦作市沁阳与博爱县交界之处）。作品收录为《李义山诗集》。
