译文
鸟儿们呀，游玩千万不能到炎洲的翡翠堆里追逐玩耍，栖息千万不能接近吴宫的燕子窝。吴宫筑巢虽好，可经常会因为燕子引起大火烧毁你们的巢穴，炎洲翡翠虽然无比华丽，可经常会有人设下网罗捕捉你们。可怜的鸟儿只有拍动着两只疲惫的翅膀，在野外荒凉的蓬蒿乱草中找到一处容身之所。就算你是只雄鹰又能如何？还不是一样的命运。
注释
炎洲：海南琼州，其地居大海之中，广袤数千里，四季炎热，故名炎洲，多产翡翠。
吴宫燕：巢于吴宫之燕。春秋吴都有东西宫。后以“吴宫燕”比喻无辜受害者。
蓬蒿：蓬草和蒿草。亦泛指草丛，草莽。
鹯（zhān）：古书中说的一种猛禽，似鹞鹰。
野田黄雀行创作背景
《野田黄雀行》是《相和歌辞·瑟调曲》之一。天宝十四年，永王李璘出师东巡，李白应邀入幕，力劝永王勤王灭贼，永王不久即败北，李白也因之被系浔阳狱。这首诗大约是此时所作。诗中李白以鸟雀无处容身为喻，黯然自伤。

野田黄雀行鉴赏
前四句“吴宫火起焚尔窠，炎洲逐翠遭网罗。”言莫趋炎附势，追名逐利；
后二句“萧条两翅蓬蒿下，纵有鹰鹯奈若何”言避世自能远祸。
整理来说，此诗言淡泊避世之志，远祸全身之术。诗以鸟为喻，唤醒人们切莫趋炎附势，追名逐利；而应淡泊名利，与世无争，以达到老子所说的“夫唯不争，故无尤”的境界。
李白部分作品采用赋题的方法，但恢复古辞的立意，在体制上也恢复汉词的杂言体制。变齐梁无寄托之咏物为有寄托之体。另外，与齐梁呆板的赋题不同，李白之赋题常常是窥入题意，深入形容。如《野田黄雀行》。
此诗实为野田黄雀自幸之语，就是用“野田黄雀”这个题意来赋写的。此诗运用了刻板咏物、反衬之法。黄雀自语不逐炎洲翠游玩，不近吴宫燕栖息。是因为宫燕易被焚巢，洲翠易遭网罗。而今我深栖野田中蓬蒿之下，可以藏身远害，纵有鹰鹯奈若何！这也是赋题法，只是用得如此巧妙。此诗综合运用发挥古意、赋题与以古题寓今事三种方法，可见李白对传统拟乐府方法的创造性发展。

李白（701年－762年），字太白，号青莲居士，唐朝浪漫主义诗人，被后人誉为“诗仙”。祖籍陇西成纪(待考)，出生于西域碎叶城，4岁再随父迁至剑南道绵州。李白存世诗文千余篇，有《李太白集》传世。762年病逝，享年61岁。其墓在今安徽当涂，四川江油、湖北安陆有纪念馆。
