心灰意冷的典故

在去西天取经途中，唐僧不识妖怪红孩儿变化，不听孙悟空再三劝阻，非要搭救。红孩儿乘机使神通压住孙悟空，弄起一阵旋风，走石扬沙，摄了唐僧，去得无踪无影。

等行者甩去重负，风已经停了。只见白龙马战兢兢嘶叫，行李丢在路下，八戒伏在崖下呻吟，沙僧蹲在坡前叫唤。行者忙上前扯住二人问道：“师父呢？”八戒说：“好大的风，我们各自掩面低头，师父也伏在马上吧。”行者说：“兄弟们，我们自此散了吧！”八戒说：“正是，趁早散了！想那西天路无穷无尽，几时到得了！”沙僧吃惊道：“师兄，你都说的是那里话。我们因为前生有罪，蒙观音菩萨劝化，皈依佛门，保护唐僧上西方取经，将功折罪。千辛万苦到此，今天半途而废，岂不是违了菩萨的好意，坏了自己的德行，惹人耻笑！”行者说：“兄弟说的也是，我火眼金睛，奈何师父不听我的，故我有些意懒心灰，说各人散了。八戒，你说说看？”八戒说：“我刚才失口乱说了几句，其实也不该散。”行者喜道：“兄弟们，还要来结同心，收拾行李马匹，上山找那妖怪，搭救师父去。”
