东汉时期，太医郭玉医术很高明，经常手到病除，他为人仁义厚道，为穷苦百姓治病尽心尽力，药到病除，为达官贵人治病经常不见效。汉和帝问他为什么会这样？郭玉回答达官贵人自做主张，态度不谦和，好逸恶劳，不愿配合治疗。
