德高望重的典故

富弼，字彦国，北宋洛阳人。他出身贫寒，从小勤奋好学，知识渊博，举止豁达，气度不凡。富弼从二十六岁起开始做官。在他任职的四十多年中，他对北宋王朝尽忠职守，在处理内政外交、边防戍守、监察刑狱、赈济灾民等各种事务中，都做出了显著的业绩，因而不断地被加官晋爵。他曾先后担任过仁宗、英宗、神宗三朝的宰相，成为天子倚重、百官仰慕的名臣。富弼为人恭顺温和，即使当了宰相之后，也不会仗势欺人。每当下属官员或平民百姓前来拜见时，他都以礼待之。神宗熙宁五年（公元1072 年），富弼年老退休，隐居洛阳。一次，他坐轿外出经过天津桥时被百姓认出，人们全都聚拢在他的坐轿周围，原本热闹的集市顷刻之间变得空无一人。因此，司马光称赞他“三世辅臣，德高望重”
