千变万化的典故

据传说，周穆王有八匹骏马，日行千里，深受宠爱。他非常喜欢游玩，曾经接受西王母的邀请，参加过瑶池盛会。

一天，周穆王从昆山返回合山，途中听说有个叫偃师的人，手艺精巧，制作的动物能叫会跑。他有些不大相信，立即召见偃师，问：“听说你能造出各种精巧的玩意，拿出一件，让我看看。”

第二天，偃师带上木头雕成的假人拜见穆王。穆王看这些假人的五官齐全，眉毛胡子像真人一模一样，觉得很吃惊。

穆王问偃师：“你雕的这些人都能动吗？

偃师说：“不但能动，而且能唱歌，跳舞。就像真人一样。”

穆王说：“让他们表演起来，我看比真人差多少。”

偃师用鼓声指挥木头人开始动作。木头人按着鼓声的节奏，别开阵势，进行攻守，但见木头人手执刀枪剑棍攻杀、防守，进退有序，一会排成一字长蛇阵，忽然又变成十面埋伏，继而化作九宫八封阵、六花阵、七星阵、八门阵，阵势千变万化，把穆王看得眼花缭乱，非常高兴。他觉得如此新奇的玩意不让妃子欣赏一番，实在有些遗憾，于是命令宫女请妃子一同观看。
