良莠不齐的典故

明朝时期，田艺蘅《留青札记》中记载：元朝时称人以郎、官、秀为等第，“秀”是最高级别，“郎”是最下的，至明朝时称鄙人为“不郎不秀”，是指不高不下。良莠不齐就是不郎不秀，称那些高不成、低不就的人。
