关羽得知兄长刘备的消息，立即收拾行李车马，封金挂印，不远千里护送着两位嫂嫂单骑来寻。

关羽在杀了曹操六员守将，闯过五座城池，才得以渡过黄河。正往前行，一对人马拦住了去路。为首一黑虬髯大汉，见了关羽，惊喜道：“莫非是关将军吗？”弃枪下马，拜倒在地，说：“关西人周仓仰慕将军很久了。”表示愿意遣散部下跟随左右，说：“周仓是一莽夫，失身作了强盗。今天见到将军，如重见天日，怎么可以忍心再错过！”
